POST 9

I think that the topic about jobs in this moment of my career is very important, well I guess it is more important for my family because they always said: What do you do when you go out to the University??? And I have to say there I´m not sure yet.

I think that get a job in this career is very difficult for many reasons. First, I believe that the work´s area is limited but at the same time is too expand. Another reason, in this country the culture is not well pay. Well, obviously that is my opinion, I really think that get a job in this profession isn´t easy, because there isn´t a lot of opportunities, so for get a space in this area you have to work hard. Besides, you need to be able to work in art, and you have to find your speciality to concentrated in this subject in a hundred percent. For that reason I think you need, at least, to do a master degree. In this career (and I think like in many others) you should keep studying all the time because you can´t to be left behind.

Now, I really think this career is not good enough to get a lot of money or even a good job, it is just for love!!!

Well I guess in the future I would like to work in something related with my professional career. I have been think in the curator´s job. I would like to work as a curator in a famuos Museum. I think this job is amazing because is great to be so close to the paintings and work with differents artists side by side.

That´s all, see you next!!!

My opinion about English class is very positive in many aspects. First, the class dynamic let you interact with your classmates, so this way you can practice the language and to become more fluent. Well, how I said before, at the first time I feel very embarrassment when it was my turn to talk, but gradually I became to feel more confidence.  That’s was another something good to the class, because for many people is very traumatic talk in others languages, and I'm one of those people!!! Well, I have to recognize that I this moment I don’t care so much what people think. Talk in English to me, now, is not so terrible.

This year I have learnt a lot of this language, things are new for me like slangs, every day expressions, despite I'm conscious I have to study more about grammar and vocabulary. Talk about grammar and vocabulary; I think blogs help a lot in this case because you are in a constant training of writhing.
To me, English class is one of the motivations to go to the University, because, to be honest, I'm so tired of the art career that I don’t have mood to go on studying. So, English is one thing that became part of my happiness to this moment.  Is very stimulating to me because I always liked to learn English, it was one of my favourite subject at school.

Well, the class has been very useful to me because in these days I'm studying Hangeul and my teacher doesn't speak Spanish so I have to talk with her in English. In the future, I would like to go to study a MBA in Korea, to do it I have to apply for a scholarship, so I need a high English level.

Well that’s all, thank you for all these time and the good moments, but mainly for the knowledge that you gave us!!!!!  See you next….

POST 8

Well in my case one of my guilty pleasure are k-pop or the new Korean culture, (is how they call all this new movement about music and TV programs). Mainly, a guilty pleasure refers to something we enjoy despite its incompatibility with our own or others, higher standards. We incline to believe a product is low-quality and by accepting the uncomfortable truth, we are absolved by the shame of savoring it. Some tastes are legit, some tastes are not. On the other human side, we listen to what we like and our tastes in music speak for ourselves. Our choices define us: clothing, music, interests, etc.  In my case I’m art student so it’s supposed I must have a good taste about music or things related with art and culture. But, why we need to suppress them?
Is truth, we can say that k-pop is an inferior genre. But, on the other hand k-pop picked up the hint, making itself delectable, be it on a musical and visual level and, why not, a sexual one too. Its acts are a full treat. Entertainment companies are meticulous with their material, offering what they consider to be the object of our affection: attractive and charismatic singers, (well, the first time when I saw the actors I though they are too gay!), learnable dances and intriguing personas to care for. Furthermore, the world they present to us is carefully manufactured and scrupulously decorated: HD videos, weekly appearances on music programs, drama MVs, variety shows to keep us busy. In short, plenty of money and effort goes along with delivering the final product. K-pop is like pop in USA, only it is not too dominant like the american pop industry, but it is very similar.
Actually, they (k-pop bands) came to Chile, to Viña the last weekend with a TV show called Music Bank.
Please don’t say to anyone about my guilty pleasure!!! Well, in fact in this moment I’m studying Korean because some day I have to go there!!!

POST 7

Hello!!!!
Is true, the last generations are more conscious about the environment and recycling, but this is not my case because I don’t do enough for the environmental, for example: In my home we don’t have the habit to sort the trash for recycling, I smoke a lot so… On the other hand I don’t throw trash on the street and I’m conscious about the water, besides, I’m not agree with some people who prune their trees too much.
However I think that I don’t produce so much carbon, because in family we don’t have a car, we try to use the subway. We are carefully with the electricity and in a future I would like to buy one of these solar panels.

Well I know how important is in this time to do something for the environment, and I think Chile is short about environmentally friendly practices but I have to admit that many people is conscious about it and they are working hard for keep green areas.

How you are expecting I don’t be part of any eco-organizations, mainly because (and to be honest) I don’t have many information about them, but when someone of this organization contribute something interesting to me I will think about it.

Anyway, I think this is a really important topic to our life, because all we know about global warming effects. In facts I believe in Chile we don’t have- yet- a good law about the regulation of carbon, basically because it is the principally responsible of the climate change.

BYE!!!

Hello Everybody!!!

This time I’m going to talk about one of my favorite artists: Paul Cezanne. He was born in France in 1839, and he was an impressionist (or post- impressionist) artist. He is very important because his work was considered as an inspiration for others painters, the vanguard painters like: Picasso, Braque, Matisse, etc.
Cezanne trough colors tried to capture “the sensation” in his paintings. I can say that, this idea was a little revolutionary for those times, because, he gradually drifted apart from the impressionism.  This way of thinking had an explication, this was because Cezanne was against the oratory and narrative painting, to him the most important thing to paint is the motive.
The key in Cezanne is the sensation, and for it has a place, the artist has to leave the motive. The artist has to make an abandon to the motive. For example we can see in the sequence of painting about the “Sánte-Victoire”mountain, how Cezanne’s motive is the mountain but what we can see is the translation to that motive, the mountain. Is for that reason that we can see the mountain paint in front or in other case we can see it painting from other point of view like a street, in Cezanne’s words “the intentional look”.

POST 5

Hello Everybody!!

Well in the web site (http://www.guardian.co.uk). I found an article about Damien Hirst and a giant statue of a woman witch he is building. And I found very funny the commentary about Hirst’s work because this was devastating.
The critic said that the huge female figure was a resemblance of the totalitarian art; he said that it looks like the Saddam Hussein’s sculpture.
I have to say that the critical was really funny and great because, well is true that Hirst is a controversial artist basically why he got rich with his work as an artist, thing that is discussing for the art people mainly because some critics put his quality in question. Well and the other hand Hirst is a very arrogant artist and person so… I think that his personality don’t have a good reception in many people.
But when I was reading this article I couldn’t forget when a Chilean guy said that Damien Hirst was dead, and I think that this was this year….
Well I saw the picture of the sculpture and in my opinion I’m agree whit some words of the critic: Hirst's statue in Devon revives the ugly vacuities of art in the age of the dictators. It really is a monstrosity”.
I have to recognize that these words were terrible. I think Hirst is a media phenomenon and I don’t know if he is a good or bad artist, he is part of the contemporary art so I can say that I like some works of him and others not so much.

Bye!!!

Hello!!!

Well in this web site in could fine some information about a great artist and curator called Liliana Porter. She is an argentine artist; she was born in 1941 and resides in New York since 1964.
Porter with others artists, Luis Camnitzer and José Castillo, founded the New York Grafic Workshop, they proposal was think a new concept about the engraving under the name FANDSO (free, assemblage, non-functional, disposable, serial object).
She was a professor at Queens College, City University of New York, from 1991 to 2007; she left the university to dedicated a hundred percent in this work as an artist.

POST 3: Holidays

Hello!!!

In this opportunity I’m taking about holidays. Well I have to say that my last holidays were not too entertaining or at least there were not too interesting. The first reason was because I had class in January, then I needed money so I had to get a job, and finally in February I had some days to rest and enjoyed.  During the last days of holidays, in February, I could go with a friend and my family -they were there- to my house in Quintero, (but only for a few days, I remember that were three or four days only) so I went to the beach and in the end I could relax and breathe some fresh air.  Well, anyway during the days when I was lonely in my home, (because my mum and brother were on the beach), obviously I could share with my friends. Actually in this last year’s my holidays were not so good because always I was working, but this year was different because I could go to the beach, I haven’t gone for almost four or five years.

That’s all, see you!!!!

POST 2

Taking about social media I would like to say that I really don’t like it’s, mainly things like facebook and twiter because in some cases this website can be dangers for you and specially for the kids if you don’t have the right control of them. All we know about the bad things that you can pass with this means if you don’t be careful about it. I only use What’s App and send a message when I want to talk with somebody and I can’t call him, because I prefer to communicate with others through the telephone or in person. As well I use the e-mail but mainly it is to communicate with the professors of the university and things like that.
Nevertheless I have to recognize that the social media in some case can be very useful, because its kept you informed about everything and you can communicate with people in other countries or people who is far from you. But I repeat you should have it’s under control because sometimes you don’t know who is behind the computer and which are his pretentions.
Bye!!!

POST 1

Hello!
Well, to me the first part of the year wasn’t too bad, actually it was fine. I think that the biggest challenged to me was the English class because- and who I said before- taking English in front other people to me is not easy I really feel very embarrassment when I have to talk, but now is not so terrible and finally I got it. In conclusion the first term of this year in the university was well. On the other hand, my family had to cross for a very difficult situation because a bad news, however the bad times went away and the pains gone. Then, I have had a very long time to rest (thanks to the holidays), and time to see some friends, family, all the people who you don’t see a lot because you are in class. In the end, I think that the first part of this year has gone very quickly.
See you next time, bye.

BLOG 9

In this opportunity I will recommended a documentary that I found in youtube.com, called DEBTOCRACY. The documentary taking about the causes of the Greece debt crisis in 2010 and suggests solutions sidelined by the government and the dominant media. This is a film by the journalits Katerina Kitidi and Aris Hatzistefanou, in 2011.
The documentary mainly focuses is about the capitalism and how this was invaded our life, how the money in this times is the most important. Besides, this film gives us a new concept about life in this age, it’s something like: “get into a debt, therefore I exist”, it’s seems a new condition to be alive, or, at least in this modern kind of life. I think this is a real meaning of this documentary; reality that is not too different in our country in many ways, like education, healthy, etc.  The most people in Chile live in debt.
In the beginning this project was supposed to be only a youtube video, but many people interesting in the documentary donated their money to the producers. The first time that I saw this film was because a teacher talked about this in his class and I found it an excellent documentary with a realistic and sound point of view.

BLOG: 8

To me the English class has been very entertaining and productive. Well, to say the truth I hate (not too much), talking english, it was very difficult to me at the first time, I feel very embarrassment when is my turn to talk because my pronunciation is not the best, but I now it’s not so terrible, I feel more confidence about me. The class has helped me a lot, now I talk in English without care what people think. I really have learnt a bit from this language over the class. Despite, I know that I have to study more, mainly grammar, because I don’t remember a lot of things. However, I like this class because I always liked to learn English. And of course it’s useful, specially with the work that we develop in the blogs, the listening, everything that we make in class is useful.
It is noteworthy that this is my only class in the morning, so I try to do my best work to get on time to the class. If I would change something about this class is the arrival time, this is too early, I hate that because the bus and subway were fully and is so terrible!!! We have to change that. (This is a real problem you most have to think about this).

Well, in this video Denis Dutton is talking about beauty (Darwin’s theory) and how this concept has been present in our evolution history.  He said a lot of things, like: beauty is natures way of acting at a distances, or, like beauty is a concept that the ancestors created to keep and developed their way of relationships with others in many task, for example the reproduction and survival, etc. Finally Dutton concluded that one of the idea that persists today, as in our present as in the pass, “that beauty we find in skills performances” (or something like this), that’s included pieces of arts, the nature, the people because to him “we find beauty in something done well”. He is saying that beauty is concept that has to do with some skills to made things, like behind beauty are not emotional interest. Well, I find Dutton’s theory interesting; I find senses in his worlds, I would like to say something more but my English is too basic.  But, I always though the experience of beauty (in all senses) has been determine, principally, for the culture and by the other hand, is a something to do with personal tastes, or in arts terms, the aesthetic taste.  And when I say this, I’m talking about Kant’s concept of beauty, something like the judgment of taste.
Bye.

Hello! Everybody, I have to say that I couldn’t go to the class today because I did not feel well, I felt sick, so Im sorry. Well I saw the website by Frank Warren and I think it was fun and interesting. I think is rare why can people say when no one can see them, or why can people say in the anonymity, and I understand why people keep some secrets because some are very innocents and others are very important, I think these last you can not keep them. Im refer to keep the secret of the name of the father of your son, for example, things like that. But is interesting to know how people keep things or details so important, I dont know how can live with that!. This was the most interesting and astonishing of the website by Frank Warren. I enjoy it. Well I have to say that I dont have many secrets, but I have save many secrets of my friends, but I think that Im a good friend, so his secret are safe with me or not???
Well that’s all, I hope you see the next Friday, in the next class. You have a nice week!!!
Bye.

VIERNES, 18 DE MAYO DE 2012

Hello! Well in the website I work with some crossword but I think I WAS TERRIBLE. So I give up with this activity and I found a listening challenge and it was more easy to me, I didn't have many mistakes actually was fun. Its was about Anna's boss telling to her that she should be more polite to clients, Anna has to work in her telephone manner. Next I found other activity, Where to Next?, its was an interactive game where you can make a tour of differences locations in Britain if you answer in the correct form the questions you can go on. I really like this game, it was entertaining.
Well that's all!!! SEE YOU.

Hello! Everybody in this opportunity I’m going to talk about one of my favorite painter: George Grosz. He was a Germany artist, he was born in Berlin and he grew up in the Pomeranian town of Stolp. He decided to studying art in 1909 at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. He became an excellent drawing and painter; also he was a great caricaturist. His style was influenced by expressionism and futurism. Grosz is a very critical artist and he has to painting his vision about Berlin. He tried to represents how bad the society in Germany was in 20’s, with the capitalism and the war. My favorite painting of him is called The Funeral, in 1918. In this painting, Grosz is showing a funeral procession set in a modern city depicted as an infernal with a grotesque human form. This painting was dedicated to a psychiatrist called Oskar Panizza. I like it because it’s showing the humanity, the world like an inferno, like a disaster. In this image you can see how the people were paid for all the mistakes and horrors that they are produced.
See you!!!!

Blog 3: A picture

So, to tell you the truth I don’t have pictures in this moment, anyone. But I remember when I took a great picture five or three years ago. I took it in my summer vacations when I was in my uncle’s house; it was early morning after a day and night very wet. Then I went out to the house and I saw an image so amazing, I saw the daybreak, that moment when is still night but it is also a day, was a metamorphosis. That was when I remember a great work of art by Rene´ Magritte, The Empire of Light, it was exactly that moment with the yellowish light from inside the house and gleaming sky. It was a really magic moment, I really did not it was day or still was night. I took the picture so many years ago that I don’t remember where can be. Obviously that my uncle’s house was not like the work art by Magritte, it is simpler but the feeling and the impression mine was the same just like when I saw for the first time that works by Magritte, fabulous. I could believe it.

Blog 2: A singer, concert and exhibition

Hello Everybody! Well to be honest I don’t like so much go to concerts or exhibitions, I’m don’t know the reasons way, but I suppose that I feel uncomfortable with the crowd. However I would like to go to the concert of one of my favorite bands The Rolling Stone. I don’t remember when they went to Chile but if they say coming soon I will go to see them. The Rolling Stone are an England rock band, the vocalist is Mick Jagger, and the guitars are Brian Jones and Keith Richards, Ian Stewart at piano; bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts. They are a successful in all world but they became famous in 1960 when their music arrived to North America. I really like them because they are very good musicians and they have a particular thing (to me), they are one of the rock band that steal are and play together. I hope go to see them some day.

Trainspotting

Hello! Everybody. In this opportunity I’m going to talk about a movie called Trainspotting. This movie was film in 1996 for the british director Danny Boyle, and is based on the novel by Irvine Welsh. The movie drama is about the life of five young men addicted to heroin and during the course of the film we can see how they destroy his life for the drugs. The main character is called Mark Renton playing for Ewan Mc Gregor and he was narrated his adventure with his friends and he is the witness of his own decadence. Then, clean of heroin, he decided to going to live in London like a way to change his life because his life before has no purpose, but the Renton’s idea it’s doesn’t work because his friends get to him and introduce Renton again in drugs. Well finally, Renton and his friends gave a masterstroke in a dangerous heroin transaction. With this money Renton decided to start to a new life like the normal people away this friends and heroin, in conclusion how he says he “choose life”.
This movie is one of my favourite films because its talk about young people and his relacionship with drugs, and how is the vision from the young to the life of adults, a life with responsabilities and hard work to get things that sometimes the young thinks are not necessary but sometimes they are. This is an inter t esting and exciting movie but is also very entertaining and relaxed so I invite to everyone to see the movie.
